family in the best way possible, RIGHT?

Well, that is actually easier than someone might think if you just remember a few guidelines for the ultimate photoshoot experience. Keep on reading to be well prepared for your BIG DAY!!!

Family photos are a special occasion, and I want to make sure everything goes as smoothly a possible! Here’s a comprehensive checklist that will walk you through every step of the portrait process to help you feel confident and prepared for your session.

#4: How to Pose During Your Photo Session:

This is the most important part of this whole blog post, so be sure to read carefully!

No need to ‘Cheese’! I’m chasing natural interactions and unposed moments. I strive to capture and encourage authentic expressions. No need to coax your children into fake smiles!
On a related note, children around the ages of 5-10 will sometimes try to “cheese” in the photos, because that’s what they’ve been conditioned to do when they see a camera! Help me create more candid shots by interacting playfully with your children.
Laugh, play, tickle, and snuggle. This is how we’ll capture the REAL moments.
Not everyone has to be looking at the camera. Actually, I usually encourage my gentlemen to NOT look at the camera. (they seem to prefer that, as well!) I like to especially encourage my dads to focus on their partners and their kids.
When in doubt, just smile and look at your family lovingly.
Stand close together. Actually, as close as possible 😃
Relax, slow down, and don’t force anything. Don’t feel pressured to make everything perfect! Just be present with your family and I’ll do the rest. And don’t stress if any of the kids get fussy! As a thoroughly experienced photographer, I’ve seen it all before, trust me. Just snuggle your kiddos and we can still capture beautiful images
Expect me to move you around to different spots to capture images. The more variety we get, the bigger your gallery and the more beautiful WALL ART we can create together!

#5: What to Expect After Your Photo Session:

After your session, your work is almost done! You can let your hair down, put your feet up, and relax a little bit. You can even take your kids to the playground in the park to let some energy out!

The next day I will be working hard behind the scenes to cull the best photos (eliminating duplicates, blurs, and blinks) Your gallery is typically ready within 2-3 weeks of your session.
I will let you know when everything is ready for your viewing and you come back to my studio to go through your images together. I have prepared a video with all the beautiful images that we took and it will bring you right back to that same day emotionally.
I have professional software that will show you exactly how your most favorite images will look on the walls of your home and we will determine the best size of your wall art so it fits perfectly into your house. We will talk about frames and mats and material and colors. We will plan everything for you and you will go home with a big smile on your face, knowing that you purchased something beautiful that the whole family is benefitting from.
After that I will go back to my computer, make changes that we had discussed and order all the images that you had purchased. Our beautiful Folio Boxes are manufactured in Ireland and it will take about 4 weeks to arrive and arrange everything. The quality is outstanding!
When I have your order ready in my house, you can either pick it up from here or if you have bigger Wall Art I come to your house and hang it in your desired space.
